Worship is Central at Central Christian

It’s when the church comes together to share in the story of Christ through scripture, music, preaching, and communion. Each week we are reminded of the goodness of God and inspired to participate in His work in the world. Even though the styles of worship may vary from one service to another, it’s not the style of worship that drives us – it’s being together, sharing our lives, and expressing the work God is doing in our midst.

To accommodate the size of our congregation and to express our worship in complimentary ways, we currently offer a blended style worship service on Sunday morning:

  • Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. – We blend the best of traditional hymns of faith with newer songs of faith, an inspirational sermon, and we celebrate communion at every service. There is a Children’s Moment with the pastor and then we offer the younger children to go to the nursery or school age children to participate in their own special Worship & Wonder program

  • Ash Wednesday   Our Ash Wednesday service signifies the beginning of the season of Lent. This service is held at 7:00 pm forty days(excluding Sundays) before Easter.
  • Palm Sunday   The Sunday before Easter is the beginning of the Christian Holy Week. It celebrates Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey. Palm branches are given out at each service.
  • Maundy Thursday – Commonly known as Holy Thursday, Maundy Thursday commemorates the last supper of Jesus Christ with his Disciples. A special Maundy Thursday service is held at 7:00 p.m. on the Thursday before Easter.
  • Good Friday 24-Hour Prayer Vigil – On the Friday before Easter, known as Good Friday, we host a 24-hour prayer vigil.
  • Easter Sunday – One of the holiest of Christian holidays as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • Wedding Bell Service – On the first Sunday in June we conduct a worship service where married couples have the opportunity to renew their vows as a group. This is a celebration of the union of marriage whether couples are newlyweds or celebrating into decades of being married.
  • All Saints Day – This service incorporates the lighting of candles in remembrance of loved ones who have passed on since the previous year’s All Saints Observance. We also light candles to honor the members of our church who have 50 or more years of membership.
  • Hanging of the Greens – To kick off the Christmas holiday season on the first Advent Sunday, we have a special Sunday morning worship service at 9:30 a.m. called “Hanging of the Greens”. At this service we tell the Christmas Story and sing old familiar Christmas carols while transforming our lovely sanctuary into a beautiful Christmas wonderland. Bring your family, friends and neighbors to enjoy this meaningful service to get the holiday season off to a great start!
  • Christmas Eve Services at 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
    • The early Christmas Eve service at 7:00 p.m. is particularly family and child oriented. It’s always a wonderful and meaningful way for families to share in the true meaning of Christmas as their faith develops. A Christmas pageant/play and upbeat holiday music is offered to enjoy and celebrate the season.
    • The late Christmas Eve service at 11:00 p.m. is a candlelight service of lessons and carols. We sing special music and church members participate in scripture readings as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with communion and worship.
