Making a
Difference Through YOUTH MINISTRIES AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS
"Generation
Change"
Generation
Change is video series written by
Dave Ramsey. Every day the youth of our society are bombarded with a
million different voices—everything from billboards to internet ads—telling
them who they are and measuring their worth by what they have. The pressure
to be accepted in today’s stuff-centered world drives them, and perhaps even
their parents, to throw money away on things that don’t matter—all in an
attempt to “be somebody.” The result? We’re raising a generation that spends
money they don’t have to buy things they don’t need to impress people they
don’t even like! It’s time for a change!
A typical "Generation Change" class begins with a short video then
goes into discussion questions and Bible verses, followed by
activities that apply to what the
teens have learned from each session.
Souper Bowl of Caring
Each
year our youth participate in the "Souper
Bowl of Caring" event, which is sponsored nationwide to raise awareness
of hunger and to raise money for our local food pantry, People-to-People
Ministries. We take orders prior to the NFL Super Bowl weekend for subs and
soup, make them together the Saturday night before, and hand them out on
Super Bowl Sunday.
Easter Egg Hunt
Each
year on the weekend before Easter, the church sponsors an Easter egg hunt on
the grounds of the church. Community and neighborhood friends and family are
invited to attend this annual tradition. Last year more than 1000 eggs were
used and more than 150 people attended. The Easter Bunny makes an
appearance, pictures are taken with the Easter Bunny, crafts, snacks and
games all happen during this time.
People-to-People Young
Ambassadors
Traveling to the South Pacific, Asia, Europe, Canada, and many other
destinations, People to People
Student Ambassador Programs offer students in grades 5-12 life-changing
educational travel opportunities that foster friendship, build the
foundation for personal success, and offer unique access to people, places,
and activities. Program delegations are built around local communities, so
students make friends locally before they travel globally.
Neighborhood Halloween Party
All children 12
and under in the church family and in the neighborhood are welcome to attend
our annual Halloween party in the Fellowship Hall. Candy, baked goods, and
games are enjoyed by all!
