Making a
Difference Through FELLOWSHIP
Year-Round Gatherings
There is ALWAYS something going on at Central Christian Church! Here is a
"short list" of some of the recurring gatherings held from year-to-year that
everyone always looks forward to...
• Chicken Barbeque
The annual chicken BBQ held in August attracts both church members and the
community. Serving famous Wayne County Fair style chicken, all are invited to
enjoy eating lunch outside on the front lawn of the church or drive-thru to eat
at home. This is one of the few fundraising events for our church.
• Neighborhood cookouts
As an outreach to our Buckeye Street neighbors as well as for our own church
community, we have monthly summer cookouts from June through September.
• Strawberry & Ice Cream Social
Every June when the strawberries are fresh, the church sponsors an annual
strawberry and ice cream festival. These delicious berries are a wonderful
dessert to enjoy on the front lawn during the beginning of summer. Come and
shoot the breeze with friends and family!
•
Wayne County Fair food booth
During the well known Wayne County Fair in September, Central Christian Church
volunteers at Bob's food stand (next to the grandstand by Lerch's Donuts) for a
day. Our hard workers do everything from taking orders to serving food and
beverages to collecting money. In trade for our long day's work, the food stand
owners give our church $1000 towards fundraising efforts for special events and
projects during our church year.
• Pancake Day
Enjoy a wonderful pancake breakfast or lunch on the first Saturday in November.
This event is always a wonderful success, along with a great time to meet and
greet others while indulging in all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, fruit, juice,
and coffee.
• Family Camp-In
 A
newer tradition formed at Central Christian Church is the family camp-in where a
Friday night cookout kicks off the evening, followed by indoor and outdoor games
for kids and adults. After sundown, we roast marshmallows and eat s'mores before
settling indoors for a movie on the big screen. The late night "sardines in a
can" puts everyone into beddy by mode. On Saturday morning when everyone awakes,
there is breakfast before everyone heads home. Always a memorable overnight
experience amongst our church family!
• Downtown Church
Walking Tour
Each year in early December the Downtown Association coordinates a Downtown
Church Walking Tour. We are always looking for guides, hosts and hostesses to
assist within our church for its stop on the tour. We have a wonderful historic
building with great history within it that we enjoy sharing with so many members
of the community during the wondrous holiday season.
• Monthly Card Games
* Bridge - Second Monday of the month from 1:30pm to 4:00pm. All are
welcome!
* Wooster Duplicate Bridge Club - Every Wednesday from 1:00pm to
4:30pm
* Euchre - Third Wednesday of the month from 1:00pm to 4:30pm.
Everyone is welcome!
• Dinners of 8
Groups of eight people get together 4 times over a period of six
months to enjoy food and fellowship. Opportunities are given to join and groups
are randomly assigned. Dinners of 8 is open to both couples and singles.
