MAKING A
DIFFERENCE IN THE COMMUNITY
At Central Christian Church we love to express the love God has given
us by doing good in the community and the world at-large. The people who make up
Central Christian Church are individually involved with a large number of
community organizations, such as Hospice, Relay for Life, Quota Club, Rotary,
Children’s Advocacy Center, The Salvation Army and many others.
In Our
Neighborhood...
We work with the Buckeye Street Neighborhood Association to put on
summer cookouts, hold Halloween and Easter parties. The Buckeye Green on Buckeye
Street is an area across the street from our parking lot where we plan to hold
neighborhood activities.
* Buckeye B.U.C.K.S. (Buckeyes United for Community Kindness and
Safety)
A dual effort with the residents on Buckeye Street and Central Christian Church
to become good neighbors by helping clean up the neighborhood by getting rid of
illegal drug traffic and opening up the church. We have had great success so
far. A neighborhood watch program has done a fine job on cutting down on the
drugs in the area. Neighborhood cookouts, lawn concerts, Halloween parties and
Easter Egg Hunts have gone a long way to realizing the at we are indeed the
Disciples of Christ and everyone is welcome here.
* Downtown Church Walking Tour in December
Typically held on the first Friday night in December as a wonderful evening to visit and tour all of our downtown churches. This is a
great opportunity to open our church doors, show off our church and extend our
hand of hospitality.
* Homebound Communion
One of the ways some of our members stay connected to worship and the life of
the congregation is through communion. On the first and fourth Sundays of each
month members of the congregation take communion to individuals in nursing
homes, retirement homes and those who live in their own home but are unable to
come to worship. There is time to pray with these members and through the
elements of bread and cup, and share the Body of Christ with them. If you or
someone you know would like to receive communion but are unable to come to
worship, please contact the church office.
Volunteers are also needed to continue this vital ministry of the church.
* Career Clothing
Career Clothing is a ministry for women going through job interviews
and entering or returning to the work force.
Each woman picks out clothing at no cost to her. Anyone wishing to
donate clean, professional clothing and/or accessories may drop them off during
Career Clothing hours every Monday night from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. or during church
office hours Monday through Friday.

turns walking or running around the outdoor track while having fun and raising much-needed funds to fight cancer
and raise awareness of cancer prevention and treatment. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times
during the event. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length. Our
team conducts various group fundraising efforts including candy bar sales and a
chili cook-off.
