Rapid City, SD
Began our day with worship at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Rapid City,
SD.  It's one of the oldest congregations in Rapid City and they were celebrating their music
ministry in worship.  A good sermon and fantastic music.
Click here to visit their webpage.
After worship it was on to the
Borglum Museum in Keystone,
SD.  Borglum was the sculptor
who was in charge of carving
Mount Rushmore.  His goal in
life was to create the finest
statue of Abraham Lincoln.
Penny is sure his finest looks
just like Pete Raymond.  What
do you think??
Then on up the
mountain to Mount
Rushmore. Below is
a picture of Penny
standing underneath
the Ohio state flag in
the walk of the
states.
Next stop was the Crazy Horse
Memorial.  The last time I was there
was 1977.  At that time, Crazy Horse's
nose was barely visible.  As you can
see below, they've made great
progress in the 31 years.  The visitors
center is nearly 40,000 square feet of
exhibits about Native Americans. Last
time I was there, it was the sculptors
work shack.  Very impressive
memorial.  Can't wait to see what
another 31 years of work will bring
about!
Next stop was Custer State Park
with it's itty bitty tunnels!  Then to
TGI Fridays and back to the
Holiday Inn Express.
